MOONEE PONDS
Our Moonee Ponds project responds to a beautifully restored heritage residence, where strong brick geometries and arched architectural motifs guided the landscape direction. The clients sought a design that would complement the home’s renewed character while offering calm, refined outdoor spaces for everyday living. The planting palette draws on broad-leafed structure, understory variety, and layered greens to create a sense of calm immersion across the site. In the rear garden, ferns, ligularia, and shade tolerant species cluster along the water’s edge, their forms spilling toward the pool to blur the boundary between built and natural. Deep greens contrast with the pale pool tiles, enriching the atmosphere and amplifying the sense of a cool, sheltered retreat. In the front garden, clipped forms, groundcovers, and small ornamental trees provide rhythm and softness against the architectural form. Pathways weave through perennial and shrub layers, creating subtle movement and visual depth throughout the seasons. The planting elevates the residence by nurturing a sanctuary like quality that harmonizes with the home’s heritage character while grounding it within a richly textured and considered garden environment.
