Working closely with the client, the initial tropical brief was thoughtfully adapted to respond to the project’s surrounding context. By guiding the brief toward a more nuanced planting approach, the garden was shaped to complement the scale of the home while integrating with its environment.

Planting is arranged in layered compositions that combine native and exotic species, creating depth and texture throughout the garden. Occasional palms and larger-leafed specimens provide moments of emphasis, while the broader planting palette ensures the landscape feels grounded in its context. The street-facing garden is conceived as a welcoming gesture, offering a generous sense of arrival and immediate connection to greenery. Beyond the front wall, a sunken basement courtyard introduces a more secluded garden space, centred around a mature specimen tree that draws natural light deep into the home. Movement through the site is guided by a planted arbour along the side of the dwelling, forming an elegant secondary path that links the front garden to the rear. This transitional space heightens the experience of moving through the landscape, gradually revealing the entertaining areas beyond. At the rear, the garden opens into a relaxed, resort-like setting anchored by a wet-edge pool and spa. Poolside lounging looks out over layered planting, while an alfresco zone, fire pit, and open lawn create a flexible environment for both everyday living and larger gatherings. Together, these spaces form a cohesive outdoor retreat that balances refinement, comfort, and a strong connection to nature.
