TOORAK
Set within a tightly held Toorak streetscape, this landscape is shaped around moments of intimacy, movement, and spatial contrast. The design prioritises experience over formality, using geometry and planting to create a sequence of outdoor spaces that feel both composed and quietly immersive. At the front of the home, the landscape extends the interior cocktail lounge into the garden through a circular outdoor setting. A central feature tree establishes a strong focal point, while integrated seating encourages informal gathering and movement between inside and out. This space is designed to accommodate entertaining with ease, allowing the garden to become an active extension of the home’s social spaces. To the rear, the garden is anchored by a sunken circular lawn that forms the heart of the space. Concentric stepped forms lead down into a secluded lower lounge, creating a gentle transition from the surrounding garden into a protected, intimate setting. The geometry introduces a sense of ceremony and calm, while layered green planting softens the form and enhances the feeling of enclosure. This space is conceived as a place for pause—subtle, tranquil, and removed from the pace of daily life.
